Canvas print of a photo of a Warhol painting ?

There's a Warhol painting I love entitled "Paramount" which is the opening credit from Paramount pictures from the 70s.

Warhol did ten of these in a variety of colours & every year they print about 500 of them which sell for about $20k each.

Obviously this is way out of my price range, but it's a painting I've always loved & would love to have a print of.

I was thinking of sourcing a high res image & attempting to have a large canvas print of it done. Do you think this is possible either online or from a bricks & mother producer producer?

unless the high res file has permission to print then no, as you would be breaking the law

Is there a poster or something available of them?

Much like downloading music, it's definitely illegal, definitely copyright infringement, and you'll definitely get away with it.

I doubt Photobox or such would bat an eyelid at it being uploaded and ordered on their site. I'd say the vast majority of 'real' shops would just be happy with the business.

I'm generally not one to promote copyright infringement, but if they want to sell a canvas print for $20,000 then I'm fairly sure they're turning enough of a profit that they really don't care about Joe Soap getting copies for his house.

well any shop that does support its customers and their copyright shouldnt print it

If it was brought to me i wouldnt print it

I wouldnt do it with any photographers images either knowingly.

    This is the particular print:

Obviously I'm mindful of the copyright implications. However the likelihood of me finding an image with enough resolution in order to get a (minimum 24" x 24") print off it is highly unlikely.

I may be better off paying someone to paint it for me :)

Does anyone else find this discussion highly ironic?

I think he means Warhol just ripped the paramount logo and splashed a bit of colour on it to make it 'his' own image.

Get a poster or don't advertise copyright infringement.
Or get yourself canvas, brushes and paints and make your own. It will have even higher value for your ;)
