Why are all our politicians so fat?

In any dealings I've had with your typical old-school Irish politician it's largely down to the fact that they've endless meetings conducted over food.

One thing I've noted over the years is how many of them are shortarses. Damn near midgets in some cases. Like "feck off politics boy, snow white is hiring again"

Most people in jobs with a lot of pressure, long hours, stress, have poor eating patterns. They eat at odd times and often on the go. This also leads to eating unhealthy foods. Hence why a lot of people in powerful positions are overweight.

The Taoiseach's seem to have got progressively plumper over the years.
Devalera for instance was built like Jarvis Cocker on a hunger strike.
Haughey resembled an anorexic rat.
Move on to the big boned Reynolds and Ahern, and finally the super heavyweight king of the bloaters Cowen.
If this trend is to continue we will have to vote an elephant in as the next Taoiseach.

good Mary Harney left her post...she was hardly a good advertisement for health. Too much time spent being chauffered in taxi's, over paid and over fed at every function they attend. Even at local level the fat cats who attend meetings/functions etc have the best of cuisine laid on for them...why can't they carry a lunch box and flask like the rest of us?
