I'm looking at a 2008 Nissan Navara crew cab commercial for €12,950k and i've a few queries:
    • What sort of miles per gallon could i expect from it?
    • Is there any danger the government will stop allowing you to tax it commercially (i've a sideline buisness which i can run it against)
    • Are they a good jeep overall, i'll be hoping to get 5 years trouble free motoring out of it
    Any help greatly appreciated;).

work in a small engineering comp. and one of the lads has these. you wont be getting very good mpg i think he was getting 11.5litres to 100km/mls i dont know which one. he has had no problems with it atal its a rock solid jeep and a very nice one at that. he uses it for work and home stuff and he's ok to pay commercial tax. i would defo recommend this jeep, just not for mpg, but it is very powerful. the interior is very nice, although he does have every extra possible im sure!:D

I have a 2006 Navara Outlaw myself and I would definitely recommend them.

Build wise they are solid and I've not had any major issues with mine in the last 2 years having done about 40k miles on it so far.

In terms of fuel efficiency i find it pretty good for such a big heavy jeep. On average I would get 35mpg, I've tried driving it really easy to see what it can push out too and managed to get just under 38mpg, but that keeping it under2000rpm and short shifting through the gears....but it is possible.

Worst I've ever gotten from mine was 33mpg, if your doing alot of motorway driving and push it hard when accelerating it will probably drop to about 33mpg then.

All in all though I'd have to say that average of 35mpg on mine is pretty good as I know plenty people with cars that struggle touch on 25-30mpg.

    1. 25 to 30 mpg. We get 30 mpg from our standard cab 4x4 manual.

    2. Absolutely yes. In order to (legally) tax a crewcab as a commercial your company must have at least 3 employees. You may be required to furnish PPS and tax details of each of these employees when you go to tax it. The crewcab is meant to be used to transport these employees from job to job. If a cop was in a particularly bad mood he could penalise you if you were driving it on your own.
In practise however (since the cops tend to let untaxed and uninsured vehicles breeze thru many checkpoints) this would be a rare occurrence.

    3. Don't know about the more modern ones, but our 99 have given us 160000+ trouble free miles despite being abused and crashed into twice. Solid as a rock and pushed far beyond the manufacturers limits over all sorts of terrain.

I had an 08 one for 2 years and I put 80k(mostly motorway) on it and the only issue was the wireing plug for the electrics in the passanger door became disconnected(half an hour to fix) and it blew the windscreen washer fuse twice in cold weather.

Other then that it got a set of pads and a set of tyres and its regular services.

It was quite heavy on diesel in general but nop worse then any other 4x4 of the same size.
