I have a gas fire in the front room its never been brilliant for lighting first time but right now its impossible. the gas flows when the knob is pushed in and turned but the spark to light the pilot is tiny and not enough to ignite the fuel.

    Dirty spark wire?

Took out the spark wire, cleaned it with a light grade sandpaper and it seems to be fine now.

Have to light my Trianco Homeflame Super gas fire with a lighted taper because
the Piezo Electric Switch not making spark. Tried cleaning and resetting spark
gap to recommended 3.5 to 4mm but to no avail. Is it possible to dismantle and
repair this type of switch or are they still available. Back boiler and gas fire now
    22 year old.
