    Hi Everyone,

I live in a 1930's-ish terraced house. Its pretty standard two up two down from that era. The roof is looking worse for wear and I think I need to get it re roofed. I also have no insulation in the attic and have 2 chimney pots that I would like to get sealed up because I don't use them at all, on top of that I would like to get some solar panels for hot water put on the roof while im getting it redone, also in need of new facia & guttering, and possibly make a small storeroom in the attic... I wonder if anyone knows where to start here?

I would also like recommendations for a decent contractor to carry out the work.

    Cheers,

    Dan

get numbers of good carpenters or roofers in your area. price around. get quotes on scaffolding hire. some roofers hire scaffold as well. also price solor panels insulation roof tiles or slates. is the timber good in the roof? you might only need new felt, battens, and slates and tiles. also price fascia and soffit and guttering. if you dont have time and experience for all this get a building contractor to price the whole job. it would be less hassle for you and theres going to be someone there to over look all the work. be friendly to the neighbours give them good warning. you will need a spell of good weather for stripping and replacing the roof. i cant tell u much about solar panels only that they work better south facing and the tubes tend to be better at heating domestic water
