    Hey guys,
Changing a few bulbs in the clocks of the civic ek2 as they were dull.

When putting the clocks back in I noticed there was one yellow connector that had not been connected when we had the clocks out last time so I thought, hey.. thats probably why they are dull thinking it was a connector for some of the circuit.
    Well
SRS light is now showing on the dash,
Obviously the guy I bought it from knew something was amiss and pulled the plug.

One thing though. The steering wheel if off center since we bought it and never got round to sorting it as I was nervous of setting off the airbag in it.

I have read somewhere if the wires are disconnected from an airbag
    IE,
Taking the steering wheel off for some reason.
that the car needs to be hooked up to a computer to clear the fault code or something.
anyone any hints as from what i gather this is now an ncty fail

It will fail the nct vectra. your better off just getting it scanned. I'd say who ever had it before had a boy racer steering wheel on it with no air bag in it and disconnected the plug but when he came to selling it he put back on the original steering wheel.

Where would I get it scanned and what would that cost?

Just go to any indy garage, it wouldn't cost that much but at least then you might know whats the problem.

Wouldn't I have to go to a Honda garage or is this specific??
I have good friend that owns a Nissan Garage

Use this guide, but don't mind the SCS connector thing they're going on about. Just get a strip of wire and strip both ends and there you go, connector made!

I had to do this for my Civic as well, to pass NCT. I've had no problems since I did it, SRS light is as normal now :D

Wheel alignment would sort that I reckon :)

Chap who did the wheel alignment was a clown so, with steering wheel dead centre the allignment can be adjusted to suit.

When the steering wheel is in the straight ahead position are the wheels noticeably turned?

    Yes

When they put the steering wheel back it was not centered correctly, maybe thats what happened. There is a clock spring with wires on it and some of the wires could have been stretched and maybe the airbag wire is one of them. Now this is just guessing really, the only way to see is to hook it up to a computer and see for sure.
