Ok so I am buying a car in the next few months and have my eye on a picasso '06 and a scenic 05. both have new ncts and low mileage and are priced at approx €5,000.

I have had a scenic 1.6 before, older model and was very pleased with it. I have test driven the picasso and found the large window and dash a bit "space ship" like in a weird way but imagine thats something you will get accustomed too. Missed having an arm rest too. Other than that I couldnt find fault. And I think the newer models have a nicer interior than what they had before.

Do you are have you had either of these mpv's. Would really appreciate your input here.

Mother of 2 children in child seats a dog and other half. Planing on driving to France this summer for a camping holiday, so these cars are both best for the space I need all round :D

My sister had both of the models
and despised them from the day she bought them, constantly breaking

They're both french and both un reliable and both expensive to repair

personally i'd go for a 1.8 Corolla Verso

The Citroen C4/Xsara Picasso is the most reliable car in its class according to the ADAC which is the German equiavlent of the AA. The Scenic II is not as good as its rating is dragged down by poor reliability of pre facelift cars. However post facelift cars (2006 onwards) are good.

The Corolla Verso's overall rating is barely any better than that of the Scenic. The ford C max is also around the same level.

Thanks yes had thougth the same, and with my budget seems only way to go (scenic). The c4 picasso is much better looking ofcourse than the older model I just find them a bit weirdddd. Not as keen on the c-max not as spacious in my opinion. Thouhg i Know reliability isprobably better.

For safety reasons I would go for a Scenic II (06 facelift model for reliability) or a C4 Picasso ahead of the older Xsara Picasso. Even though the Xsara Picasso is a 4 star NCAP car, the newer designs are safer and stronger and from what I've seen, fare very well in real life crashes.

We've had a 02 Picasso 1.6 Petrol for the last just about 6 years and its been brilliant. Faultlessly reliable, has only been in the dealer once for timing belt change, otherwise I've changed oil & filters and put new brake pads and discs on the front (all DIY). Its comfortable, reasonably reliable, the boot is great, the seats lift out in about 2 mins and make a huge space and, with climate control and a seat for each of the family, it makes the journeys as complaint-free as they could be with a few kids in the back. I normally get notions of changing cars after about 3 or 4 years but we're hanging on to this one for while yet.

The missus has an 05 1.6 Scenic. No issues apart from attracting a lot of damage :)(3 minor single vehicle tips and someone hit it in a car park and legged it).Theres just under 100,000 km on it.
