Ethernet Problem

Wonder if people could help me out here. I have a Samsung R530 running Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. For some reason, any time I connect an Ethernet cable to the laptop, it just doesn't work. Previously I tested this in my college, by removing the Ethernet cable from a computer that could connect to the Internet via the Ethernet and connected it into my laptop, yet when I tries, it would always say "Limited Connection".

This is quite annoying because I would like to use the laptop to connect to Xbox Live via an Ethernet cable to my laptop, which worked on a previous laptop.

    Any ideas?

Type ncpa.cpl in the search box and make sure ethernet isn't disabled in network connections. It should be listed as local area connection. If its enabled, disable it and enable it again. If its not listed at all You need, check device manager to see if there's an exclamation mark beside any devices, then You'll probably just need the driver for it. No exclamation mark and not listed means it may not be working at all.
