    Hi,

Garage may cover it for 12 months but can't see them going any longer unless the pump has a recall from VW and they can get a free replacement for it.

I'd check the oil level before driving it just in case it's an actual low oil warning and not a fault.

After only a year I would be suspecting that the oil system wasn't properly cleaned/flushed of swarf after the first failure.

If they just throw on another pump you will then have the swarf from 2 failed pumps that will just cause the next one to fail.

jeez and I paid through the nose for the first one ........is this gonna cost me the same again or would VW pick up the bill for shoddy parts etc ?

My mums bought brand new 06 golf 1.6fsi went through 2 electric power steering racks at a cost of over 3 grand. The first failed just within warranty but as it was a Saturday we couldnt bring to the garage and had to ring Monday by which time the warranty was out and VW Ireland would not honour the warranty despite pleading our case. PR*CKS!! We have purchased several new VWs but would never buy another one. In fact reliable better feeling hydraulic power steering was removed from new VWs in order to save on manufacturing costs. Im buying an 02 Audi as I happen to like VAG cars but would not buy much newer than that.

OP, you bought a dog. get rid of it as soon as you can. They are notorious for oil consumption issues, as for the rest...
