A call for Civil disobedience

As the goal posts change daily, and being a complete anti-violence person, I believe we should just stop.

I'm so tired of perceived wrong doing, when we know it's wrong but the laws set up at the foundation of the state are at best antiquated, designed to protect those at the top. We treat Judges like lords of the land and expect politicans to be self serving and corrupt.

We see tax payers pay for private enterprise, (see Anglo) but it's okay because it's for the nation and how folk abroad may look at us.....?
We pay for a TV licence yet have Titburdy and Co. as our non-bias champions... We are being screwed constantly and at every level.
When did RTE hold auditions or interviews for any key tax paid for post?

It's fine to bitch. We have a track record of doing little else, until really pushed. I ask, instead of letting it go that far, how about we just stop playing along?
I'm just so angry at our in-action.
We have no set laws other than moral. If they can amend laws to suit, we should do the same.

RTE was dancing with fianna fail all through the celtic tiger and now they're biting they hands that fed them.

Pretty useless organisation ,considering we're paying them.

You would need a mass consensus, but I would suggest withdrawing money from certain banks, non-payment of bin/road/Television tax. Those who run the show generation after generation may take note if enough people did even the smallest thing.

We need an election now, an updated restructure of our laws on defrauding the state. Penalties for knowingly miss using state funds, (Anglo) no pensions but rather a process where when a TD or director of a state or semi-state body breaks these rules they are fired not retired.

These are over the top off the wall times and we should not sit about until the tide settles and we return to square one.

i dont think civil disobedience needs to be an option now with the way things are going the government look likely to loose the no confidence vote on tuesday according to rte live update, the independents and TDs out of the party whip are dropping like flies :D:D

I totally agree,we the Irish people(and taxpayers) have made all of these senior people in FF millionaires with their salaries, expenses and pensions and in return they have f**ked the country, toured the world first class and went on p*ss ups with our money!!!today we saw our €300+ PA leader talk Sh1te for 20 minute about what was best for the party while 500,000 people are unemployed and leaving THEIR country and families in search of work.....they should be lined up and shot!!!!

If so they also made senior civil servants and all the senior people in other parties millionaires.
.....they should be lined up and shot!!!!

Shot by whom and no whose orders?

It is very easy to call for action but not very easy to adopt reasonable solutions.

If you want those who run the show changed then change them! Causing the banks to collapse or rubbish to pile up on the streets isnt doing anything constructive.

    And you are getting one.

Great! vote for someone who promises this and keep at them after they get elected.

You may have been watching to much reality TV where mediocre problems are elevates to crisis level as if eating a maggot was the worst possible think that could happen to anyone. This isn't post war Germany or Russia. People are not starving to death. elsewhere children are being gassed and shelled and people are starving e.g. Iraq; Palestine. There is a big debt problem but the economy is sound.

I`m not certain,Shay O`Meara, that we as a people are the type which appreciates "Mass Concensus".

It`s not really in our physche,as can be seen by the woefully inadequate mass-useage systems we possess such as Health,Public Transport or Education whilst we were/are VERY comfortable with Magic Bean stuff like SSIA`s and Low Betting Tax.....;)

I`m of the opinion that the last bloody thing this State needs now is a friggink Election !

Instead Mssrs Cowen & Co should have been hauled before the Supreme Court and handed down a Performance Sentence with a deadline to impliment.

If this required some form of suspension of Constitutional Procedures then so be it.

What this election now brings is a further infusion of rank uncertainty as a historically difficult to motivate electorate (regular valid polls around the 50% level) peruse a historically crappy bunch of Political wannabees with little or no actual concept of what running a functional democratic state is about.

Like it or not,we as a people have performed best when under strong guidance, and that is what yet again we need now.

The OP refers to Civil Disobedience without realizing that this Government had that aspect covered long ago.

The informed decisions of this cabinet, made after quite a few presentations from the relevant State Agencies such as Gardai,Army,Prison Service and Local Authorities, were to continue the modern Irish Social Comforting approach which is why one mainly hears the cries of actual wage earning citizens rather than any great outpouring of anger from the "Poor and Disadvantaged".

It won`t work, simply due to the actual mathematics of taking from the few to distribute to the many, but by the time we accept that the present gombeens will have secured their pensions and moved seamlesly over to the next scam....

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

    Charles Mackay (1812-1889)
