can't believe Tuffy is top of the boards poll, she has done sweet FA AFAIK in the area

Got her leaflet through the door a couple of days ago. It was all about how she's lived in the area for years and brought a family up. Loads of photos of local events but i'm pushed to remember what she's done in the area myself.

I like Derek Keating. As a Councillor he's done quite a bit for Lucan and was always quick to address local issues. I've seen him about Lucan a lot over the years and was always approachable.

When it comes to the larger parties I really couldn't care less about the quality of individual candidates and what they have done for the area. Local issues are for local elections. In a general election when you vote for FG or Labour you are just voting for someone to sit on a chair and press the Tá button.

Keating is nice guy, but he has always struck me as a parish-pump politician. I'd consider voting for him in local elections (when party affiliation can be disregarded), but if he was an independent candidate in the general election he wouldn't have a hope in hell of getting my vote.

Anyway, despite topping the poll last time, I think Curran is a goner. I doubt there's the same degree of FF party loyalty out here as in other parts of the country. I really think the fourth seat will go to either Ó Broin or Kenny.

Haven't had any callers to my door, my predictions are fizgerald, keating, tuffy, and either curran or gogarty for the 4th; gogarty still has support in lucan. Noticed some defaced curran posters on newcastle rd but replaced now.

my father was telling me frances fitzgerald was canvassing in neilstown, when an urban cowboy on a horse turns up and the horse proceeds to 'drop the kids off at the pool' right beside her!!!

We have had canvassers from all parties except Fianna Fáil and literature from everyone except them too. We regularly receive local updates from John Curran though - as well as from Paul Gogarty, Joanna Tuffy and Derek Keating. Family in Clondalkin regularly receive updates from Curran, Gogarty, Tuffy and also from Gino Kenny.

I have to say I have had contact with Joanna Tuffy regarding a particular (non local) issue and she has responded and followed up in person, on the phone and by letter since.

I'm still undecided who to vote for.

The constituency has not elected a FG TD in many years so it seems there is no core of support in the area - so even in the current situation I'm not convinced they will manage two seats. They did manage two councillors in 2009, though one was Derek Keating who was already popular in his own right. I'm not so sure he will be looked on as favourably for the Dáil as he was for the council.

Went out for dinner last Friday and then went into town last Saturday.
In the process, we appeared to have missed Dowds and his canvassers, Gogarty and his canvassers, Fitzgerald and her canvassers and also Tuffy and her crew.
    I was absolutely raging!!!

Then a guy canvassing for Curran arrived at the door yesterday evening but I was just about to put the dinner out so couldn't bore him to tears. :(

None of the Loony Left have called to the door. Perhaps they don't think they'll garner much support in Lucan?

Keating and Fitzgerald called to my door, thats the only two so far.

Will probably give FG 1 & 2 and FF number 3, Greens number 4 and nothing for the rest

After a depressing 12 months, i was greatly cheered at the news this conceited buffoon is the first to accept the inevitable, the Joys. Perhaps paul will be considering opening a Creche Business? Good riddance Paul and best of luck with the Mayoral election, LOL:D

This is the result for the 4 seats in Dublin Mid-West for those that haven't seen it.

    FITZGERALD, Frances FG
    TUFFY, Joanna LAB
    DOWDS, Robert LAB
    KEATING, Derek FG

Pretty much what i expected. Delighted to see Gogarty go so early. Nothing personal,i just wanted to see the Greens decimated at the polls. Very good turnout too,66%. I only got down to the Polling Station at 21.40 and it was still quite busy.

Is it too much to ask for them to take down their posters?
The election is over a week now and they are still littering Lucan with these eyesores.

Same here but not far from the end result, O'Broin (SF) was still ahead of Keating

I've noticed that some have been deliberately left up so as a 'Thank You' sticker could be placed over them. Noticed this particularly with Derek Keatings posters.

    Should public postering be banned?

I am also annoyed at ones left up a week after the election.

Postering should be done professionally and removal costs prepaid and bonded so that someone is responsible for removal or face financial penalty.

A time limit of 1 week after election seems reasonable.

Excellent idea there. They put them up in record time(appears like they pop up overnight in some cases) so i don't see why they can't come down as quick.

They were taking them down in wexford on the sat morning after election and also the plastic tie on's were removed.

Most are now gone in Lucan except for the independent ones, if you see any just report them
