I'd say try Anythony Ryan's homeware or the small italian shop opposite Sally Longs.

no good. Ryan has only coffee pod's machines so they don't sale the tampers. Olio & Farina has inatilan food allright but no coffee equipment, except the Bialetti cafertria which I'm proposed them:)

    Any other ideas????

I dont know what it is but it sounds like something Tommy Varden in Tuam might stock. I dont think he has a place in Galway any more.

Would you try Mocha Beans or Arabica to see would they sell/give you on a 2nd hand one?(Judging by the bad habit of a lot of baristas of knocking the grounds to settle into the basket which I have witnessed in practically every coffee shop in Galway, the edges might not be perfect)

Or maybe the coffee supply places (theres a few in Ballybrit/Briarhill/Liosbaun) or if you see the Java Republic van - stop and ask would he sell you one. I think they all sell/supply the alloy/aluminium tampers but I think possibly you could be singing for a wooden handled tool.

Try Cafe Express in Ballybane. I got a tamper and a knockbox from them a while back.

Did you find one anywhere? I've upgraded machine and need a 58mm too.

naasrd, there's a small shop in Dun Laoghaire, two doors down from Argos at the Bloomfields centre called J.J. Darboven.
I just bought a 58mm tamper from them today. Made in Italy, nice and heavy, red wooden handle, flat base. Pic from Google images here

Was €35, and so far it's already an amazing improvement to my espresso making (as well as reading some of the tips on this forum).. That said, I was moving up from the plastic tamper included with the Gaggia Evolution, so anything would be an improvement I guess..

Also that shop has some really nice coffees that I've never seen anywhere else (in fact I think they are the sole retailers of the brands they sell) and loads of teas and coffee & tea equipment. They've actually got some nice espresso cups/saucers, and at the moment they have a nice brown set of 6 cups/saucers for €10! (Which I bought)

Disclaimer: I don't work there or anything, I was just really happy to find it when I did!
