I've sold quite a few of these Gerry and they are pretty good. Fast set up with the auto scan and even faster if you already know the channel that carries DTT in your area. Great picture quality on the HDMI output especially on RTE 2 which is SD upscaled to HD and HD on some live sports events.

Just bear in mind that although it works with existing teletext it will not support MHEG 5 digital text.

Hi All, Do any of you have any experience of these recievers?
    Good? Bad? user friendly? ETC.
Any feedback would be great as my supplier is thinking of stocking them so a heads up would be good.

Even without Certification, Compatibility needs MHEG5. These don't do it. It's not just about "fancy" text but will be an integral part of service. For example if a hidden video stream has two or more squashed pictures (as is common on Freeview Interactive, Freesat Interactive and BBC or Sky Interactive on Sky for sport) then without MHEG5 there is no way to get the proper picture.

The additional €15 to €20 extra for a "Freeview HD" box which will do all is worth it and price of them has dropped nearly 40% since November.

Key elements of the receiver specification include the following:

    1. The receiver needs to be capable of decoding both Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) MPEG 4 signals. This is important as RTÉ is planning to replace its current SD RTÉ Two service with an RTÉ Two HD service on SAORVIEW. More HD services are likely to follow in the future.
    2. The receiver needs to have MHEG5 middleware to decode RTÉ’s proposed new Digital Aertel Service and other possible interactive services.

MHEG5 is not an optional extra like EBU Teletext. Also the prices of box with MHEG5 will drop more, both UK "Freesat HD" boxes and more "Saorview" boxes (March?). At the minute there is only the copy of Aertel. But RTE are serious about useful MHEG5 applications beyond the MHEG5 EPG they will launch.

The South African Rollout is now live and will pull down price as they too are DVB-T2 and MHEG5.
