I find it ridiculous how much the phrase "In relation to" is being used in the media these days, especially by politicians. It has actually replaced the word "about". Next politician to say something like "I'm not sure what you're are talking about" instead of "I'm not sure what you are talking in relation to" gets my vote regardless of their policies.

I find it ridiculous how much the word "actually" is being used.

Going forward, we should touch base in relation to appropriate verbal usage. Engage in a bit of blue sky thinking also.
    Please revert*.

Actually, I hadn't noticed that in relation to politics and the like.

Reminds me of that Ms South Carolina chick who kept saying "such as" instead of "like". Clearly she used to use "like" to punctuate every sentence, but her coach/parent/whatever told her that "such as" makes you sound more intelligent.

With regards to your comment OP, I find the regular use of "in relation to," to be quite overwhelming indeed.

In relation to the thread, I feel, going forward, based on the information at the time, I don't accept that, the fundamentals are sound on that basis.

With respect to the OP's point, I would respectfully request that you desist.

Basically we all forgot to put the word "basic" into the playing field

"In relation to", from a politician, is more acceptable than "I never dun it".

'I want to make one final point, and its an important point, that relates to ..rabble rabble rabble'

Brian Cowen on RTE news yesterday. It really is a skill to be able to sit in front of the nation on prime time news with one of our top interviewers Brian Dobson and not answer one question directly!! He deflected every single question.
    He's brilliant at it.

Reply should be along the lines of - in relation to your basic text regarding daft.ie i feel you should take this text and going forward think outside the box, alternatively take the box and instead of going forward, shove it up your hole.

Gerry Adams or Martin McGuinness are the real masters at this. It's enjoyable watching them toying with an interviewer. They do it with the supreme confidence of masters of their art. Talk from one end of the year to the other saying only what they want to say and talking a presenter in rings.

But RTE let them away with it every time. VBrowne, for all his faults, at least keeps at them for an answer.
