    Hi All,

New to this forum. I've apllied for the sheep fencing grant and have a quote from farm relief in kerry for sheep wire and 1 starnd babrbed wire.

They are quoting 5.90 plus 13.5% Vat per metre for low level land, this is grant spec.

What do people here think of this..? Have done alot of fencing last year but havnt time this year to do anymore.

Anyone know any good contractors in Munster for this besides Farm relief services. Farm is in Kerry,

    Thanks for your opinions

    hi

    welcome to the forum,

we have about 1700 to 1800 metres to do,

we meant to lodge the application this week but got tied up with lambing and slurry spreading

using imported creosoted stakes, 3 ft HT sheep wire with 2 strands barbed wire on top I have come up with a very quick calculation of €3 to €3.50 per mtr. including vat . and not allowing for our labour

Is there much involved in filling out the form ?

Sorry I don't know any contractors in your area

    Hi Guys,

Thanks, In relation to the form, no its veryeasy to fill out. They have a marking point system to see who qualifies. the people with the most points get entered first. The first tranche is closing on 31st of Jpm and I'll email across.an so get the forms in. There on the dept website, or send me and I'll email them across.

The forms are very straight forward, just looking for LPIS number number of sheep etc.

I think you have to have sheep for this grant, its a pre requisite.

Forms Can be found here http://www.agriculture.gov.ie/farmerschemespayments/farmbuildings/
also worth looking at the reference costs for the scheme. If you are under the price you get extra points.

At 5.90 p/m you are above the reference cost which is "Sheep mesh with one strand of barbed wire €5.34 pe linear m"
As far as I understand this does not mean that you wont get the grant, you just wont get the extra 100 points that are availiable for being under the cost. 5 Marks for every 1% under cost:confused:.
However you may score better than others on Number of ewes, or if you are aged between 18 and 35.
    I hope this helps!!

Do you want to fence them in or fence them out?
