Read this on Autostraddle earlier today, and just thought it was brilliant. I don't necessary know that many of the songs, but the descriptions of figuring out that you're gay and the emotions and excitement and terror that can accompany it are just spot on, I think. Thought it might be good to share...

    Big Gay Awakening Playlist
the gay awakening (n): a time-honored tradition of existential anxiety and homogay panic at the onset of more-than-friendly feelings for a same-sex person intimately involved in one’s life.

    Great article.

My Big Gay Awakening Playlist consists of anything from Placebo's "Without you I'm Nothing" or their debut album from the days when I was full of teenage angst, when I and the girl I was madly in love with bonded over a love for Brian Molko.

My one is definitely going to be Where does the good go, before I actually knew who Tegan and Sara were, It was on the soundtrack for Greys Anatomy. Myself and the girl I was head over heals in love with (who was straight) were doing it for a music class together. I don't really relate with much of the article other than when her exchange student came over and she really liked him. I spent most of those three weeks giving him death stares and thinking of ways to bash his face in! XD I remember one time we were moving tables for parent teachers, and I insisted that I was able to carry more tables at once than he could (all 6 foot of him). I was wrong to say the least. :P
