I am registered to vote, citizen and resident here in Ireland.

However, through circumstances of work, I have to be out of Ireland on the date of the General Election. I'll be in the US at a conference.

The best I can find is on Wikipedia suggesting that an absentee ballot might be possible, but I can't find this info online anywhere.

Does anyone have info about this?

Where should I call to find out what the situation is?

Dont worry about it. One vote wont make any difference in this election.

I have lost count of the amount of things I missed through travelling with work over the years.

    Enjoy the conference.

Well done, that's the attitude

This says that "You may also be eligible for a postal vote if you cannot go to a polling station because:
You are unable to vote at your polling station because of your occupation."

Best bet would be to get on to your county council or the citizens information board.

This came up in a similar thread yesterday. As far as I know you anr only entitled to an absentee / postal ballot if you are out of the country working for the sate, i.e. a member of the Gardai, Soldier, diplomat etc.
I am nearly sure that there is no provision in our law for anyone else to vote while out of the country.

Why bother voting? If voting ever changed anything, it'd be illegal!

Well I guess I'm just a sucker for democracy. I also watch romcoms even though I know how they end. Not sure if there is a correlation.

Anyway! With any luck, elections will be sooner!
