Replacement Seat belts

    Hi

    Just bought an 01 Toyota Hiace van which has double passenger seat The drivers seat belt is fine and working - problem is only one seat belt in it for passengers which fixes into middle of the seat. There is a fixing point at far end of the seat (which seems to be broken) but no shoulder strap in the middle. This means the only way 2 people can be strapped in is to pull the one shoulder strap at passenger door over both people together and fix it in to the fix point at end of the seat, near the driver side.

    Basically what I want to know is can I buy replacement belts for the van and if so where? Oh and where would you fix the middle shoulder strap - to the roof perhaps?

    Is there not just a lap belt for the middle passengers in those?

    Are you sure that the middle seat isn't a lap belt. Take the seat out and check for a lap belt for the middle and the anchor for the passenger shoulder belt.

    There is no way to secure 2 people with the one belt. You may need to buy new seats to sit 3 people with shoulder belts.

    Doesn't seem to be but now that you say that it makes more sense that there would be seeing as there's no fixed axle point for a shoulder strap. It may have been removed at some stage I'll have a look in the morning see if theres a fixing point tucked under the seat somewhere for a lap belt.
