cartell.ie Discrepancy

    Hi All,

I done a cartell full vechicle check on a reg plate of a car I am looking at this weekend.

The car (2005 BMW 320d) was originally brought in from England before going on Irish plates over a 1.5 years ago. Speaking with the seller on a separate issue, he said he purchased it from a dealer in the North of Ireland and that dealer had shipped it from the UK. So the story tallies up so far ;-)

My issue is with the Reg plates it had in the UK.

According to cartell.ie the car had 2 different UK plates, where 2 plates where applied to the car 3 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    PREVIOUS PLATE INFORMATION
Registration Date Applied Stolen Security Damage Finance Inspections
BT05XRU 04/09/08 No No No No No
L4AMW 20/12/05 No No No No No
BT05XRU 01/08/05 No No No No No

When I check the reg plate L4AMW for free on cartell.ie and motorcheck.ie it tells me this car was a blue BMW 320 I SE convertable petrol model and not the model I expected from BT05XRU.

My question is, do you think database that cartell.ie (and motorcheck.ie) may have some wrong information?

Also, cartell records the model as an E46 BMW on the result from the Irish records (stating the following "E46 D SE 4DR 163BHP"). However, I presumed that all BMW 2005's where E90 models. From the outside car advert picture it looks like the E90 (new shape model).

Is this another discrepancy or was the E46 engine initially combined with a new E90 chassis?

Has anyone had any experience with such discrepancies with cartell?

Note, finance and mileage appears to be ok from the report. I still have to update the cartell info with the VIN number when I get access to that info.

    regards,
    Patrick.

L4AMW could be a personalised registration plate. When the owner sold the car, he kept his personalised plate and put the original plate back on.

The L4 plate was a private plate.

    E46 D SE 4DR 163BHP
This is definitely a mistake, as the 163bhp engine was never available in the E46.

I was thinking it had to be a cartell mistake. The advert is for a 2005 BMW 320d se 163bhp and it looks like the E90 model. So thats a relief.

    Thanks Anan

I had dealings with cartell before. Talk about letting the mafia run the Dept. of Justice:rolleyes:

I'm sure Cartell get their model info from the vehicle registration database, you'll probably find the same error in all of them.

I agree. motorcheck.ie showed the same result as cartell.ie when entering the reg plate in the initial free check.

Presumably the http://nmr.ie/ is the same.
