scope choice

guys i have been shooting for a while and will be starting the hunting side when i get my licence for my .17 back. im just wondering what kind of scope you would recommend for a marlin .17 used for shooting rabbits and any other fox i come acrosscheers tommy

Simmons Aetec are cheap enough.
I have a simmons WTC 6.5-20x50 that I would recommend for HMR.

i used a smidt & bender 8x56 on my marlin .17
it is a deadly scope under the lamp and are unbelievable quality,
thats what i would recomend.

i have to agree with glensman. i had a simmons prohunter 6-24x44 on my old cz 17, at 6 power it was a great scope under the lamp and it gave me plenty of magnification at 24 power for longer shots on rabbits. i took rabbits at 200 yards with headshots with that rifle. i often feel sorry that i had to trade it in for the 223

there's nothing to touch a S&B 8x56 as an all round scope, but you want a wee bit more mag on a HMR for the long range stuff. The ret on the schmidt would be too thick for head shots past 130 yards...

I would want a medium quality scope that goes to 16x or higher...
