The only reference to this I can find seems to refer to the program that was shown on Discovery.

The Universe is made by the History channel (I have season 1 -4), season 5 aired in the US last year, so I presume if it is new that is the one they are showing on Sunday. It is fairly hit and miss, but the good episodes are worth it. The early stuff is very basic !

I have seen the overdramatic ads. They make out that the solar maximum in 2012 is something unique that could fry the earth even though this is just the maximum of an eleven year cycle.
This has been a trend for a while now with Nat Geo and Discovery where every documentery has to be made out as if we are all going to die.
The BBC documentaries such as Horizon and those narrated by david attenborough are so much better. It's usually the American ones that are the blame. Next thing they will have laugh tracks dubed over them.

Hi clearz,I have to agree with you, so many docs on Discovery,Bio etc are lame because in order to get the subject matter to join in they seem to hand over editorial control if it be about NASA,Astronauts and so on,Geo seems a bit better?

The BBC for instance wonders of the Universe seem so much more independent, but The Universe i found to be a great show,no ego's involved and as i said no bells and whistles.
i like it,it is educational without being smarmy.

I really cannot stand this series, though the topic is right up my street, the MTV editing and repetitive voice over really galls me. it's like one of those crappy traffic cop tv shows that Americans seem to love.

You can find better made videos on youtube tbf.

this user for instance, a mammoth effort.

NOVA science now is great too. one of my all time favourite docos after the Atom series: http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/monster-of-the-milky-way/
