According to the rules they can, I would like to think if it's a nice not too loud yoke they wouldn't though. Getting the ZT measured up tomorrow for a back box so just wondering. I'm unlikely to have it come next NCT time but you never know.

I've never heard anything about e marks on exhausts. Emissions and noise are all they should be looking for with an exhaust.

    Hmm,,
I can see myself having to pull that damned sewerage pipe off the back of the civic and put the original one back on for the test

I think they have to be really loud to fail the test though, I'm getting a quiet enough one, nearly as cheap getting a stainless steel one made up as getting a pattern backbox for the ZT so might as well.

    Come to think of it
This one came with a Bung/Reducer that can be fitted to quiten it a bit..and it does quiten it a lot..
Might be worth a shot.. test not due till next year anyhow.. Car might be changed by then :D

No requirement for an E mark on exhaust, only tyres.

Anything 99 decibels or over is a failure for exhaust noise.

    No exemptions unfortunately!

Its not just a simple 99 decibels though, the test equipment has to be a certain distance and at a certain angle to the tailpipe, the test also has to be carried out in an area free of ambiant noise......which no nct center has:rolleyes:

My brothers car passed with an after market backbox. No E mark on it. So doubt they look at it. I know they do test noise and emissions but that's about it.

Also I thought you can get an exemption letter from the manufacturer if the car comes louder than 99dB?

i passed with an old 911.....old ladies dive into ditches when i floor it......lots of margain folks.....you'd have to have an open dust bin exhaust to fail imo.
