I'm guessing it's got something to do with where the parking ticket is placed - you were told that should be stuck the window and not placed on the dash?

Either that or you are very anti-litter and you can't abide people dropping gum on the pavement? :D

it has a Tipp head band hanging on the mirror which might Prove the owner is a cnut :D:D only joking!!

Is it the fact the car is parked over the white line and you have a clamp saying so on the drivers side?

He couldn't have. Clamping is illegal. My guess is the rims are wrong for the model of motor or something.

Its nothing to do with litter/where its parked/how its parked/parking ticket/ins disc/tax disc etc etc.

No matter how badly I took the picture if you concentrate enough someone should get it.

    Correct my good man!

Its a 10 reg golf and on all four ALLOYS are cable ties :D

Must belong to someone who never had alloys before!

It made me lol so I said I'd post it up here.

Is positioned too far back, and rear is protruding into the space behind?

(Although if so, this may be because there was no space to move further forward when it was originally parked.)

They are hubcaps, I was in a VW garage just after the Mk6 Golf came out and saw one with them on.

They're the best disguised hubcabs I've ever seen. The black steel wheels behind them are 5 spoke too.

As I pointed out earlier in the thread, can I congratulate you on a FAIL :D

They are not Alloy wheels (but they are fairly good), they are composite Alloys which are actually wheel covers. Opel use the same thing on the Insigina SC.

I went out and looked and I can say 110% they are alloys. Also if you look at the front wheel in the picture you can see the brake disk and caliper. Something you don't if there were steels behind hubcaps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,347 ✭✭✭si_guru

Vauxhall had them on Astra and Vectra... "structure" wheels or something.

    http://www.carpages.co.uk/vauxhall/vauxhall-vectra-27-08-05.asp

... to be pedantic the wheels are alloy anyway. Covers or not.

Cheers for the info....never knew that but going by the piece the wheel bolts hold the cover on so no need for the cable ties.

Did you tap them with your finger nail? Look very convincing, but 100% they are trims and not Alloys.

can confirm they're hub caps. Girl at work has them. Thought they were alloys too first time I saw them.

They are very convincing. Even the way the valve is coming out of the rim. I would never have thought they were alloys..

A friend for the north has a new vectra with them and there very convincing and there secured on by the wheel bolts so........

why the need for the cable ties ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,073 ✭✭✭10-10-20

Eh - is it parked more than 50cm from the kerb...?

    ...did I win?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,461 ✭✭✭--Kaiser--

You think that's bad, my friend sold his car a while ago. The new owner rang him up saying he couldn't get the wheel off. My friend knew the guy so he went over to help.....

Turned out the guy had been removing the fake wheel nut from the hub cap to try to take the wheel off.....not only that but he managed to get three of the fake nuts off

I therfore presume the clampers have reasonable excuse or legal authority ?

No, funnily enough. That would be for a court to decide. Not the clamper.
