I was wondering if anyone knows of any apps that allowing you to remote desktop from your pc or laptop to an Android device?

A search brings up plenty that work the other way but I've only found one that does what I want, its called Remote Desktop (Has a blue monitor as its symbol/logo)

But I have tried it this morning and it doesn't work.

The first time I tried it I got a screen showing my devices screen but I couldn't do anything other than capture the screen, every try after that I just get a screen saying select a device but it doesn't show anything to select.

What do you want it for?

If for technical stuff: running sshd is better, then just use putty to log in with terminal.

If for demonstration purposes: Some devices have mini-hdmi out, this is handy. Otherwise you can get a kind of projector stand thing that lets you put show it on a big screen, sorry I don't have link to hand :)

Its for remote testing, We have guys in Slovakia that work with us developing our Android client and we want to be able to allow them access the devices here so they can run tests on them.

Wow. I have experience with exact same situation, managing remote team. Simplest solution = give them phones, anything else will just be annoying. Failing that they can just use the emulator.

Giving them the phones or using the emulator is not a viable solution as we have limited devices and we cant load Samungs ROM for example on the emulator, something similar to RDA for Nokia devices is what we need.

If you can't afford to give your developers devices to test on then I despair. Any kind of remote desktop solution you use will mean you are not testing on a "normal" device.

Developers = expensive. Phones = cheap.

I saw this in the market last night but wasn't able to install and test it yet

Webkey by Peter Mora and Zoltan Papp.

It may or may not do what you need, if you try it post back and let us know how it works!

You could try androidVNC (exact letters) a scaled down version of RealVNC/UltraVNC/TightVNC type of application - have tried it and its cool actually - you will find it on the marketplace, its free anyway... :D

I use Vnc as above + connectbot for ssh tunnels to connect internally and externally to windoze and Linux (rh and osx) boxes.

Yeh its working fine on my rooted Galaxy S using the "Keep alive connections to androidwebkey.com" option and connecting via the url androidwebkey.com/yourusername

It wont work using the supplied IP address though.
