    Hi guys,

I’m probably asking a stupid question, but i'm about to register my .ie business name and i’m unsure how to compose the letter outlining the reasons for obtaining the name. Can any of you give me any ideas on how to word this letter as I want this to get passed first time around?

    Thanks

Hi there, have you actually been asked to write a letter?

If the website name is similar to your own name, or registered business/company name, then a letter won't be required.

No I haven't been asked for a letter yet but according to the black knight web site when I'm registering my website I need to provide a letter outlining the reasons for obtaining the website name.

If you are asked keep it simple.

Something like this should be okay.

    Company Number: XXXXXXXX

I hereby request XXXXXXXX.ie as it relates to my business of selling XXXXXXXXXXXXX.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Your Name
    Your Position

If the registered business name is identical or very similar to the domain name you won't need a letter - just the CRO number

You'd need the letter if your business name was very different

So if your business name was:
    Shogun Trading

    and you wanted to register:

    Deepfried.ie

You'd need to explain (in very simple terms) why, as the business name is not obviously linked to the domain name.

    Hi ''Blacknight''

Thanks very much for clearing that up. That makes me very happy as the website name is exactly the same as my business name. Happy days :)
