    Hi all

My friend has given me a laptop to fix.

The hard drive is fine, there is some problem on the motherboard.

I was wondering if it is possible to remove the laptop hard drive,
in this case a 2.5 inch SATA drive, and using SATA power and data
cables connect it to the motherboard of a desktop computer as
    a secondary drive.

I would then boot the desktop computer and the laptop drive would
possibly show up as a removeable disk?

I am posting this query as I don't know if the SATA connection
on the desktop runs at a different voltage and could overload the
    laptop drive.

Has anyone out there done this or gotten around this problem?

    Thanks
