The cynic in me is thinking that all these resignations from Ministerial posts is designed purely to spread out the Ministerial pensions benefits to as many people left on the sinking ship as possible so they can retire on a healthy pension if they are not returned to the Dail. Does anyone know if there is a time limit for being a Minister to get the pension or does it kick in if you spend a total of 1 day as a Minister?

You have to be a Minister for two and a half years to get the pension.

So its the kind of job where you earn more when you leave?
