how do you do it?! Its not as simple as hooking the new blades in like you do for front.
There's an angled piece of plastic on the back one.

Or maybe I just bought the wrong wipers? Bought generic/not Toyota specific ones - Do I have to buy a Toyota one, and if so, is it then relatively straightforward to fit it myself?

If it's the 02-2007 model you will need Toyota specific, no others will fit, simple to fit the Toyota ones, easier than the front. That or buy new rubber and replace your current ones which is a pain to do.
