I came across this article written about a training session at Aldershot Farnham and District who would be regarded as having the leading female training group in Britain.
Steph Twell is a former World junior 1500 champion with a pb of 4.02, Charlotte Purdue is the European junior cross country champion, Emilia Gorecka won bronze in Albufeira at 16 yrs of age, Georgia Peel ran a 2.06 800m and 4.16 1500m at the age of 15,Ruth Haynes is a 9.40 3000m runner at the age of 16, Emma Pallant is a former world junior 1500m bronze medallist.
    Jonny Hay is a 3.46 , 14.02 runner at 18.
I'm wondering what others make of this session bearing in mind that they were tapering in the lead up to the European Cross Country C'ships. The warm up and cool down in particular grabbed my attention as well as the overall work load.
I'm also interested to note that there appears to be a number of injury problems with the group and that Twell and Purdue have also been seriously injured in the past.

Coach needs to control their warm ups and warm downs. If he wants them to run 5.40 pace why not have them complete a threshold session during the week, if they are doing that already then there are overtraining simple. I doubt Mo Farah runs his warm ups that fast, so why should these girls who are 6-7 minutes slower over 10k do so. Crash and burn comes to mind

Read this while back. One thing that could be said is the presence of the author may have influenced the session some what and the girls may have been trying to impress.
Similar to when you are doing a session with someone you want to impress. You always pretend it a easier than it actually is. I couldnt see this being sustained however given the fact the group has a high injury rate cant rule it out
