My dad worked in states for ten yrs in 80s as a teacher he had a temporary green card at the time one that he had to renew every year. So he never had the proper full green card. Just wondering would I be entitled to any visa now being his son?

Assuming your father lives outside the US now he has thus abandoned his green card and is not able to sponsor you for a family visa (even if was still living in the US he would have to naturalise before being able to sponsor you).
