    Hi All
I have a technomate 6900 super combo sat box which I was using for dtt on the terrestrial part, in june I got a new tv it's a samsung 42 inch freeview tv plasma screen which scans digital and analoge no problems there originally I had rte1, rte2, sometimes tv3 and tg4,
over the last few months the 4 channels became permanent and before christmas I noticed 3 more channels rte2 hd lite, rte rolling news, and 3e, all working fine until this weekend, the sound is ok on rolling news and temporary rte2 hd lite, but the rest of the channels have no sound, has rte changed the broadcast signal?
I think its the tv because if I switch the combo box to terrestrial dtt I get sound on all 7 stations?
    any help greatly appreciated
    regards DLB

It may be that you have set your Samsung to look for the AD (Audio Description) or NAR (narrative) stream. This stream is broadcast alongside the primary sound stream (which is marked "eng" or "iri"), but on Saorview the narrative stream is silent. You may have to look in the menu setup for the Samsung to ensure that it is set for the primary audio stream and that AD or NAR is turned off.

On satellite the BBCs and ITVs normally carry the same audio on the NAR stream and then you get a voiceover describing the character's actions for people with vision problems.

StrawberryHillbilly http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=69959194&postcount=8 on the other thread seems to have a similar model, so a PM to him or a follow-up post may resolve that for you. Couldn't quite follow the posting from thomasking, though:confused:

Friend of mine has the exact same problem with loss of sound on DTT on all channels with the exception of the rolling news channel.

Hopefully the posts above can solve the issue as my friend has a Samsung too.
