So it appears my toilet seat has sagged its last and needs replacing. Is this an important decision? Just buy any old crap? Do you attach a lot of value to your toilet seat?
From googling I have found a number of options.

Don't hold with something like this myself. I don't want to laugh or be frightened of my toilet seat, I wish to sit on it.

But aside from all this gimmickry I am no closer to ascertaining what the right seat is for me. Is there an absolute answer?

Plastic? Cheaper... no splintering...
Wood? Comfort, looks better

The hinges are important too. You get those plastic hinges, sit down and the bloody seat wobbles like you're in an earthquake. Nothing worse than an icy throne first thing in a cold january morning. Heated seats are an option... as are padded seats. It's a wonderful world of choice out there. Almost paralysing it is.

Everyone says they need them heated, thats BS. Nothing worse than going in after a dude that's already 'warmed' the seat with his kebab arse

Wooden toilet seats are generally more comfy & warmer. Nothing worse than a freezing cold morning, window open in the bathroom & someone has left the window wide open & you've a plastic toilet seat. Makes for cold bottoms!!

The only thing against wooden toilet seats is that you need to be meticulous about cleaning (well that's for the wimmin in your house to concern themselves with!) because sometimes wooden ones can get tiny cracks in the seal or wood itself and this can cause smells.

but if I'd a choice, I'd go wooden, plastic also pinches sometimes.

My girlfriend said something simmilar the other day.

I do not have to worry about this - it is her job to warm the seat up for me.

If you're not the first into the bathroom in the morning, the alternative to an open window would be much worse....carbonmonarse poisoning....:D

Them Japanese bogs are the business!! The Park Hyatt in Tokyo has the best bog I ever used!! much more than this basic model... I won't go into details like.... but this thing even had male and female settings to wash different bits!!

It may be just the beer talking, but I swear to all that's holy that I won't crap in the house again til we have a glow in the dark toilet seat. Brings a tear to the eye when I think of all the nights I sat on a glowless throne. Epiphany is the word that springs to mind when I see those pics. Epiphany, and 'Jaysus, if only it had a cushion'. But mainly epiphany.
