Do I have to ask for my contractual Wage Increase?

Hi, My work contract states that my wages should go up a grand each year. I didn't ask for this last year and assumed it had been applied.:eek: So anyway, long story short it wasn't... Should I have asked for this? Seeing as it was in my contract I didn't think I had to... Should I ask for the money now? TIA
