Guinness have a fantasy rugby game this year, the winner of which wins a trip to NZ - not too shabby.

I set up a mini-league for here, there's only 10 allowed in each mini-league so get in fast!

    http://fantasyrugby.guinness.com/default.aspx

    Mini-league name: Boards.ie
    Password: rugby

Could be a bit of a laugh, though there seems to be fair few players missing for now and it seems a bit poorly made, ah well, enjoy.

Yeh, they have a few players missing plus the costs are pretty strange. I was looking for Hook for a good bit and then found him at ten and then there's no Ben Youngs.

It's a bit of a wierd league. Looks like we don't have to pick positions really. Technically you don't have to pick, say, a Hooker. You could have your forwards almost exclusively back rows if you want. I had started filling mine out 1-15 as though I was selecting an actual team, but we don't have to do we????

EDIT: No scratch that, I got to FB and had the option to select any back so assumed it was the same all over. Just tried it and it's not. Back rows, Second rows and Front rows all seperate....

Nope. Pretty much pick who's most likely to score tries/points.

Also, 9 in so far, only 1 spot left.

I'm going predominantly Irish and French and just bloody well hope the coaches have a bit of bloody sense.

6 Irish, 5 French, 2 English and 2 Scots with Bowe as captain.

One of the points rules is +3 for all players who win and -3 for losing. Makes having any italians pointless. I'm starting to think this game isn't very well thought out!

Well the prize sounds like a random trip to NZ for 1 person based on how it's phrased - there's no mention of the RWC or the fact that you might be able to bring someone else. And then there's this:
    Early Registration Prize:

All teams that are registered before the transfer window closes on Thursday 3rd February 2011 at 23.59 UK Time, will have the chance to win tickets to the Ireland home match in the 2011 6 Nations.

It's not perfect but sure it'll do for a laugh.

Any good fantasy sites where you can have a league with as many teams as possible?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 78 ✭✭spear thrower

I am going to wait until all squads are announced before making my selections.. Surely it makes more sense to put you out half as captain for point scoring reasons..

Any good fantasy sites where you can have a league with as many teams as possible?

Irish Times usually do one that's quite good, think you can have as many in your private league.

That first one's full now, I've set up another one for anyone interested.

Just signed up - I like the extra challenge points feature on half time leader and most try's scored.

You should take a screenshot of the leader board Thomond - you are top of the group!!:D

Is there a fantasy Six Nations website that will work for ex-pats?

The Guinness one above keeps diverting to the English site.

Can't be bothered this year I reckon. The products they product are dreadful.

As I recall from last year, the best teams looked nothing like a real team. You need to make sure to get the placekickers that don't play 10 - Bergemasco, Halfpenny & Parra.

Tommy Bowe is probably going to miss the first game si I'd stick in someone else in for the moment. Looks good otherwise. :)

As far as I know, they let you make a ton of subs after each game, so you're better off selecting lots of players from the teams you think will win that week.

Ireland will beat Italy, so Irish players will get the win bonus, and if you select the players that are likely to get tries, you're in the money. France will beat Scotland, so same there.

England / Wales is harder to call, so I'd focus on French and Irish players for the first week, and then sub out a chunk of them before the next week, as France / Ireland is more difficult to predict.

oh really!,I will do that so.
I reckon England will beat Wales,England have really come on big time & should be one of the favourites for the WC to,more so than Ireland.

Anyone doing the Irish Times one? It limits you to three from each nation. I have more selection woes than Kidney at this point...

Irish Times & RTE scores in, Guinness not up yet, sportguru also in.

I'm a pretty solid middle of the road, better than expected given my jetlag at the time of selections. All I need, like Ireland, is a good front row!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,822 ✭✭✭Morf

Middle of the pack in the IT boards league.

I made about 4 or 5 **** choices that i can't wait to fix. James Haskell, what was i thinking?

Weird points/ranking system on Guinness - in the mini leagues it still seems to rank you as your overall position. The boards.ie league has 30-something teams and my ranking is still 1767 - but on the list of teams I'm 7th highest on points so far. Not too bad :D Must use that team as a base and change my other ones!
