Check out the Mullingar park hotel, my brother had his wedding there in june and it was very nice. They even put on a band in the residents bar for us, just as things were slowing down they got going all over again. Was a brilliant idea!

We're looking at the Bettystown Court and also City North. We'll have about 200 guests so looking for value as much as possible and these two have very competitive packages. Also the Marriott in Ashbourne seemed very nice but they were a bit more expensive and we weren't as fond of the room.

I live in Meath, recently booked Slieve Russell in Cavan. Think its around a 50 min drive from me. Nice venue and prices are reasonable.

The Station House Hotel in Kilmessan is quite nice, also Ballymagarvey Village in Balrath.

I am also looking for a wedding venue in Leinster. My fiancée is a chef so we are looking for somewhere that will allow 150 guests but also allow us to self cater. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!!!

    Ballybeg?

re self catering, you're probably better off hiring a venue which allows you bring in caterers - I'd assume though that he'd need to provide the necessary health and safety certs. Airfield House might be an option. Tailors Hall. Your numbers are quite big.
One suggestion would be to look on caterer's websites and see what venues they mention.

Yes I've looked at Ballybeg on the net. It appears to be the only show in town for self catering. I also checked Clonabreany House but they won't allow us to self cater. I'm not sure about Ballybeg. Has anyone else been there?

Lisnavagh, near Rathvilly? we had a marquee for 140 guests and hired caterers.

been at 2 weddings in ballybeg, its a great place. both times they had their own catering in. only thing i would say is there are only a few bedrooms in the house, everyone has to use B&Bs or hotels near by. but there are taxi services that operate throughout the night
