Just bought a 16gb ipad still sealed in box, just looking for advice as what accessories are essential to buy?

Especially is a screen protector essential or not?

The ipad 2 is coming out within the next 2 months. The apple branded ipad case is good.

Other than some sort of protective case/sleeve for hauling it around, there are not many accessories that are "essential" for it IMO.

As for the screen protector, I don't think it's needed at all and I've never been a fan of them. I've had my iPad since early June (UK launch) with no screen protector and there are no scratches or any damage to the screen - sure, it smudges and catches fingerprints instantly, but they are easy to wipe off anyway.

Definitely a case, not the apple one though - my husband paid €69 for mine and then my father in law bought a perfectly good one on ebay for €13 delivered, it's a really nice faux leather one, identical to my Dad's Griffin one that he paid €64 for

Can't really think of anything else. That's all I have for mine!

Edit: this is the case from ebay, really nice

Don't like screen protectors, defeats the purpose for me.

    Get one of these.....

It's very sturdy and feels so right you can even type on it.

Great advice for the chap... so are you telling him to bring it back and get a credit note?

I got one of these: http://www.zagg.com/accessories/zaggmate.php?gclid=CKSB26vtw6YCFUoKfAodIx7wMw

It's pricey but fantastic. Works really well as a keyboard with the ipad, and provides great protection for the screen when it's not in use.

Love the look of this one and tried to order it the other day but couldn't get past the final screen where I put in card details and shipping address as one of the mandatory fields was a drop down menu of what US state I was living in!!

    Will try again later!

Think my sarcasm in the first part of my original reply was lost on you. If you want one now, you shouldn't wait.

Remember there's often great discount codes floating around for zagg. If you search twitter you can sometimes find a 50% off code.

This is a fantastic case for the Ipad.

It's classy looking and great value at €19, so maybe add something else small to bring the price up to the €24 approx to qualify for free super-saver shipping.
