I notice that the Buccaneer has recently moved to a new location near the airport entrance,

    see photo:- http://www.flickr.com/photos/eigjb/5365108996/

Also, does anyone know if the Grumman Goose and the Beech 18 are still resident in the hangars at Weston? ;)

Can it ever be restored to flying condition or is it just for show?

Yeah the goose is still in the hanger. Paul as I remember the buccaner arrived on a truck from the Uk but has had engine runs awhile back.

I dont know if the owner plans to put her into flight condition though.

XV863 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B was RAF Lossiemouth's gate guard, a gulf veteran. Removed from the gate where she had been on display since 1993 with any useful bits removed, It arrived at weston during 2007 and was reassembled in a few hours, There is no way this aircraft will ever move under its own power again let alone fly...

I keep on meaning to get my Bins out when I am there , what is the ' wreck ; sitting over by the old flying school area ( where the fuel was/is ) ie near the Dublin Road /old entrance .

I can't stop on the Dublin road , anyway I don't reckon you could see it from there.

It looks like a training hulk for the fire squad .... any clues guys ?

It's Super Catalina, VP-BPS same owner as the Buccaneer and C47. It used to belong to Plane Sailing but crashed fatally in 1998. The hope is to restore it. But on close inspection it's a mess and not improved by sitting out in the open all this time.

Yep shape and size would work out about right , thanks Xflyer

What a shame to leave it to moulder like that

I actually thought it looked like an A6 , figured I must be wrong ( remember I am about 1 mile away in the car park when looking at it :) )

It is probably restorable, after all they can restore aircraft after sitting in a Russian forest for 60 years. When I win the Eurolotto. I'll buy it and put it back in the air. I always fancied having my own Catalina.

Could you tell me more about the Russian aircraft or post a link please?

Well let's see in recent years several aircraft have been recovered from Russia, particularly Luftwaffe. I'll Google but can't promise.

    Here's one for an P39 http://untoldvalor.blogspot.com/2008/01/p-39-airacobra-discovered-in-russian.html

The likes of Aeroplane Monthly and Flypast have regular reports on recovered airframes from Russia. There was even a Hurricane found where the pilot was perfectly preserved, almost. It was very poignant. But be warned may not be suitable for all tastes.
