Hey just got engaged and we are now beginning to think about the big day. We want to go away but we also have a list of about 100 people that we want there. Is that alot for a wedding abroad?
Also if anyone wants to recommend a wedding destination to us would love to hear thoughts. Its got to be in Europe and somewhere easy to get to...other than that we are open.
We have been throwing around Portugal, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Malta and Austria...any experience or advice on any of these countries would be very welcome. Thinking of getting married Summer 2012.

Yes - I think 100 people abroad for a wedding is a lot. You might not get a lot of them going due to financial reasons, etc. So just make sure you factor that into things. Give people plenty of notice - once you decide on where, start asking people if they would be considering going.

Have you thought about having a small wedding abroad and then a party home to celebrate it as soon as you get back?

We got married in Sept 2009 on Zakynthos, it was an awesome day and we took 30 guests over with us.

We were married on a cruise ship just anchored off Turtle Island, weather was awesome.

Price included all flowers (A lot of flowers), translators, wedding planner (Athina who was awesome), the boat, wine and soft drinks on the boat, coach tarnsfers from hotel to boat and then on from boat to reception. Merceded car for bride to boat.
Horse and carriage from boat to reception, 5 course gala dinner for 40 guests, 200 wedding pictures in an album taken by pro photographer, wedding dvd, 3 tier wedding cake, live band at the reception

I think i covered everything there, we got all that for 4,000euro!!!!!!

I know the price has now gone up to 5k but that's well worth it.

This is the company we used, although we had been to the island a couple of times before so knew one of the English ladies who works for them

As for the day, all our guests loved it, explained that if we had a wedding here, by the time they's paid for a hotel room etc, and other costs, they could get a week in Greece for not much more.

They were all there for the week of the wedding then they all fcuked off and left us there for another week.

    Would recommend it to anybody.

If you're really interested drop me a pm, i'll send ya some pictures and give ya more details of some awesome accommodation deals.
