Ewe lambs choking.

Hi,
Has anyone had an experience of a ewe lamb choking.
Was feeding lambs nuts and corn mix when one ewe
lamb started choking. Ended up completely stretched
out on ground with mucus streaming from mouth and nose.
Is there anything that can be done to avoid this or what can be done if it happens. Thanks

were the nuts small pencils like nuts ewe and lamb nuts? i had some left over before lambing 3 years ago and said id use them up before i got the nut type ration, ewes use to eat to quick and get caught in the throat lost 2 ,got to save one the vet gave me some injection that relaxed the muscles in the throat to help the one i saved ,just seen her in time ,i cant rem what it was called worked straight away opens the wind pipe or something !! hope that helps

it happens coc sheep are a bad combination of dumb and greedy lol , grab the ewe and squeeze their chest like u would on a human its saved me a few .

we feed corn every year and the same thing will happen for the first week or two. the sheep just have to get used to size and texture of the corn cos the last feed they probably got was nuts back in march.

if you have to get an injection for any i'd be knifing them, normally happens to the small heavy muscled short necked ones.

imo it happens more when the sheep runs fast to the feed, they are panting slightly and it effects the swollowing, dont feed them for a min or two when they all arrive at trough
