Ya'd be mad to buy a gun online eitherway with customs etc. You better off buying from a retailer in the state. Or ask them to order the gun you want if they dont have it.

With regards grenades I beleive there are no problems ordering. They do be well under 1joule and dont look like guns so customs probably wont have an issue with them.

I would not say he would be mad, would be less hassle than ordering from Asia but probably more expensive even after import tax. Just be careful that its not over 1 joule or it may not get to your door.

Mind you its probably best to support Irish shops.

Just to answer the original question pauly, you can import your own airsoft rifs provided 1) they clock in at under a joule and 2) you assume that customs will seize it to either possibly test it (which could take a long while) or charge you import duty and handling before you receive it. There was legislation supposed to be brought in to make it illegal to import them but the enacting of it seems to have been delayed.

My own experiences are that I import a lot of stuff, particularly pistols, mainly because the irish retailers, as good as they are, wouldn't have the item I'm looking for on their books and are unlikely to be getting them in. (That said, a few of them, including eirsoft, will work out the import costs for particular items and get it in for you as a once off, which is a good service). I buy stuff off the irish shops too, so as to spread my custom around :)

Yes, ehobbyasia use US Dollar as their currency, as do most of the rest of the online guys. I always pay using paypal anyway, which allows me to convert to euros if I want to.

I've ordered bb-shower type grenades from ehobby which arrived fine. Don't know if that's the type you mean...

As TC said, the Personal Imports Ban is not yet being enforced. So you are welcome to order online, however you just have to make sure that it is complying with Irish Laws (i.e. firing UNDER 328 FPS w/0.2g BBs) BEFORE it hits Irish shores. If you're unsure about it, just fire off an email to the retailer and ask them. Many will offer a downgrade service.

When looking at things online, just remember to add the VAT @ 21% i.e. a gun that costs €200 from Asia, will cost €240+ - you'll also most likely be liable for a special administrative fee that the couriers and postal service like to charge you for their inconvenience with customs. Put simply, add 25% of your total cost (inclusive of shipping) to see roughly what it will cost.

The reason why most people recommend buying Irish is that it is much less hassle, and if it's in stock then you walk out with it there and then. On top of that there is normally a warranty on top of that, which gives the buyer a little extra protection. But the stores don't always have what you're looking for, so ordering online definitely has its benefits. Just be aware that it's not necessarily a bargain.

Customs are wise to that declaration and may ask you to send the paypal receipt to them. You would be much better to declare it all up front and pay up. If Customs tag your address for false declarations, you will forever have stuff opened and delayed.

    Dont wind them up

Pauly, with regard to upgrading your barrel.....Paddycam has a Prometheus barrel for sale in the averts section. Should fit your M4 but research the barrel length beforehand.
