VW caddy imobiliser whoes!

Hi I have a 2001 Vw caddy tdi which the immoiliser has started to play up, well when I say playing up I mean that the damm thing wont start now unless there is a computer hooked up to it. Now the problem being is that all the advice I seem to get says that I have to buy ecu ignition switch and key and the immobiliser unit…

Hi I have a 2001 Vw caddy tdi which the immoiliser has started to play up, well when I say playing up I mean that the damm thing wont start now unless there is a computer hooked up to it. Now the problem being is that all the advice I seem to get says that I have to buy ecu ignition switch and key and the immobiliser unit which will come to nearly the value of the van from VW and cant seem to be got from the scrap yard. anybody know a better way around this?
