Good zombie/werewolf films?

I'm sick of all the vampire films that there are in comparison to zombie/werewolf. Any ideas on good zombie or werewolf films?

I've seen a fair few but there just aren't that many

Dawn of the Dead - the original from 1978. Absolute classic.

All the George A.Romero zombie films are worth checking out

Dawn of the dead remake is excellent also.

I'd also recommend 'Dog Soldiers', & 'American Werewolf in London', the last 'Wolfman' remake was not that great imo.

Pontypool - while this is in the same strain as 28 Days Later/28 Weeks Later (in the way that they're infected, not Zombies), it's a pretty excellent low budget movie based in Canada.

Dead Air - Almost the American version of Pontypool, but interesting in it's own right.

[REC] - Spanish Zombie movie. It's excellent and a must watch.

Dead Snow - Zombie Nazis.. need I say more?

Pontypool is quite an interesting one, but it's not a gore-fest or all action. It's quite slow burning but well worth the sticking with it. Interestingly enough, the BBC also released a radio play of it too, which you can listen to here.

They're zombie-like anyway, if not zombies in the classical sense. I think its the fact that they ran at you with break-neck pace that made it such a terrifying twist on the old approach of the slowly approaching brain-munchers.

Zombies don't die of starvation though

but this isn't the right place for this conversation - this might be a better place for the specific topic of what is or what isn't a Zombie.

There's also the microbudget Colin, which I haven't seen but is supposed to be quite good.

Wolfen an Albert Finney movie from the 80s i think seen it on tv a few times.Not a typical werewolf movie.Any of the resident evil movies for zombies.

I was surprised by how good 30 Days of Night actually was! Really wasn't expecting anything good and it was actually quite excellent.

Ha, I actually stopped watching it first time round after about half an hour. I really wish I didn't because about 5 minutes after that (on my 2nd attempt about a year later) it got really good.

Very much crescendo booking lol; highly recommend. There's a beautiful long over-head shot that's has really stuck with me ever since I watched it.

I highly recommend NEVER watching the Sequel. It's so bad. Wow, really, really awful. Straight to DVD useless fluff.

I'd second this. While not a werewolf film in the strictest sense, it's got a lot in common with werewolf movies. Plenty of action, suspense and intrigue.

As for zombies, I have been hearing very good things aboutThe Horde.

My experiences with Werewolf films haven't been the best.
Teenwolf with M.J. Fox is good but 80s
The Wolfman last year was pants
Wolf with Jack Nicholson was good (haven't seen in it many years though)
Monster Squad is a kid's film

Yea i'm fairly sick of vampire films, there are some good ones but i'm a werewolf/zombie film man, got a few good choices on here and did a bit of reading all seem good so far thanks all

Wolfen is a fantastic movie, the book wasn't bad either (the same guy who wrote 'The Hunger' bowie/deneuve vampire film). I didn't mention it here though as it's not a werewolf film. Same with 'Brotherhood of the wolf'. Can't believe I forgot 'Company of Wolves', definitely one of the best werewolf movies made imo.

The original version of Dawn of the Dead is much better. Sure, the new one looks better, but in terms of content/story, it's not in the same league at all.

Going in to see 30 Days of Night I thought it was going to be a crappy Hollywood style slasher kind of movie with Hartnett there just to attract fans. Having watched it though it was bloody brilliant, and Hartnett's performance was awesome.

I'd recommend Dawn and Day of the Dead (originals - by all means avoid the Day of the Dead remake, full of silly ridiculousness!)

PontypooL is an interesting take on the zombie movie. Still not sure what I make of it to be honest but it is a fresh look at the genre. Not much gore though.

Seen outpost alright and dead snow, not the worst films I must say, kept me watching. I've heard about flight of the living dead, I do enjoy a good cheesy zombie film. Haven't heard of dance of the dead so I'll check that out. Thanks

Have to say I preferred the new one, as said before with other newer films it just has more pace and isn't dragged out.
