Convert to coal burning fire

I have an electric fire in my living room and I want to convert it to a real coal burning fire. When I pull out the electric fire I can see the bricks at the back of the fireplace so I know that I would need to get the fittings for inside the fire, also up the chimney seems to be blocked with insulation or something.
