Help with upgrading from ios 4.0.1

    Hi guys

    Would someone mind giving me a walk through as to the best way of getting this to 4.2 - mainly so i can get the mobileme service.


    My current ios is 4.0.1 and i need to get to 4.2
    When i launch cydia it says shsh 4.02, 4.1, 4.2.1, 4.2b3.

    I don't rely on a carrier unlock but its essential i don't have a semi tethered jailbreak. Any help would be much appreciated as im still working my way around this stuff

    I presume you have an iPhone 4? At this time, there is no untethered jailbreak for it.

    Yea it's an iPhone 4. I thought there was an ios 4.2 no? I know there's a 4.2.1.

    Ah right. I guess I can't upgrade so to get the free MobileMe thingy for a while. Seems like the untethered 4.2.1 jb is a long time coming. Guess it's more complex than previous ones. Thanks anyway

    Afaik they holding out for 4.3, which will be out next month, beta 1 is in the hands of devs now
