"different" wedding venues in wicklow/wexford/carlow

hiya, I'm hoping someone might have some insight here.

We're hoping to get married next year, no date or anything set yet, though I think we've narrowed it down to May 2012, depending on the church and venue availability of course. The church shouldn't be a problem as I'm CoI and with such small parishes there doesn't tend to be a high volume of nuptials!

I don't really want a big hotel wedding, and couldn't afford one even if I wanted it! Offbeat and quirky is what I want - something different. OH
I want a relaxed atmosphere, a nice informal setting that will take 100 or so people, decent simple food and above all I want myself and my fiancee to really enjoy the day and do things our way. The problem is finding the right venue for the right price - "different" venue choices seem to be a bit limited down the Wicklow/Wexford/Carlow way!

Ideally it would be no more than an hour max from Tinahely where the service will be.

I've only just started looking though, so hopefully something will click. I'd really appreciate if anyone has any suggestions or advice

    Thanks :)

I know you say you dont want a hotel reception, but just to say, im having a pagan ceremony and reception<snip> this November, for 100 people and at 24.99 a head, and no corkage charge on wine, its a really good deal, compared to what i have seen some people paying. Its costing us 3000, for the hotel, bringing our own wine, and a dj for the evening, dresses and suits on top of that, but still keeping to a very small budget. Its a Gorey hotel, pm me and ill let you know the details.

Hi, I was just wondering if you had checked out a very local venue to Tinahely, which I personally think is lovely and a bit 'different'. I don't think I'm allowed to name it but it's ______beg House. I'm sure you have well considered it.... There's also one in Rathvilly which is a similar idea. Especially for May either one would be lovely!

have a look at lisnavagh house. It's not far from tinahely and it would probably suit your numbers. We had a marquee wedding for 150 there in june 08 but they also do indoor functions. www.lisnavagh.ie

Its the one in Rathvilly that Wicklori refers to above

There is a place called the Orchard Centre in Tinahely. Not sure if it would work out cheaper than hotel though

You could try Borris House, Borris, Co. Carlow. Have never attended a wedding there but the grounds & house is fab

Sweetie, I am looking into having a marquee wedding next year 2012. Could you give me some feedback as to how your marquee wedding went? Would really appreciate it

Totally with you on Ballybeg! We had our wedding there in October and could not speak highly enough of everything about Ballybeg-the staff, the location, the facilities, Grouse Lodge-everything!

We went with The Ashdown Park Hotel in Gorey, great deal as I previously posted, and our whole wedding went off with a bang 8 months ago
