Hey guys i am readying myself to buy either a motorised dish or a torodial dish with 16lnb capacity and was wondering doe anyone have experience with a torodial setup? because it can take 16 seperate lnb's does that mean i have to run 16 cables into the house? would the motorised be the better option?

This might be of some help.

    picture.php?albumid=407&pictureid=7248

I did a rail conversion as I did not like the original lnb holders.

One cable into the house will suffice.

What satellites do you wish to receive?

    For a €100 I think the T-90 is a great dish.

Because you are switching between lnbs you move between satellites with almost no delay.

Keep us posted on what you decide and do. :)

will the torodial t90 pick up many satellites in the west of ireland
whats its quality or gain like compared to 1.0m 0r 1.1 triax

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,417 ✭✭✭✭watty

It's like an Triax 78cm with one LNB. Maybe as good as an 85cm dish.

It's also VERY heavy and bulky.

Yes I DIY'ed the rail in stainlees steel plus the items to attach the new rail to the original one, they were stainless steel. The holders came from Latvia.

Everything I want to see are grand ie no pixelation.

The other things like feeds I get with this.:)

    picture.php?albumid=280&pictureid=1328

Happy with the bits you sorted out.

    Re LNBs try Germany.:)

Post some pics when you're up and running.:)

I'll throw up pics as soon as its done.....i'm happy with everything i organized so far but it leaves me wondering what else could i add to make it better...
    i was looking here http://www.tvtrade.ie/multi-lnb-holder-3-way.html
and i rang and they said that if i bought 2 or 3 they could be easily attached together and that they would do it for me, they also have good prices for lnbs as well so i think i'll go there....still not fully sure what sats i want to receive tho....like i want 28e 16e 13e 4.8e that much is a given but havent fully decided about what else....hmmm its all expense and hassle really but worth it in the end :)......i hope lol

Its a 15mt self standing tower, in 5mt sections.

I've got a HF dipole up there for the ham bands 10mts - 160mts.:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 499 ✭✭MACHEAD

Wow! thats a mighty tower allright, back in my CB DX'ing days I'd have loved one of those. Have you the dipole mounted east/west or is it rotatable?

    Cheers.

So OP whats the latest on the T-90?

I think they really are a great dish especially if you live in a 1 dish per household area.

    Keep us posted.:)

So its not as effective as the marketed 90cm equivalent dish ?

    :)

@PJ! All the LNB cables are fed into 10 input DiSEqC box, thus one cable goes into the house.

Look to the right of the pic and you will see the DiSEqC box.

    I hope this of help.:)

Thanks. I presume one can be got for a quad?

Can these be used to bring the two feeds needed to a Freesat PVR or SKY+ box?

    I would say no!!!

If its two feeds then its two cables into the house.

But I'm happy to be wrong. Never got into the PVR world.

2 cables in is not so much, I've got six cables coming in to cope my 5 sat receivers plus a 4 wire cable for turning my CM 1.2m.:)

    Cheers Greenman.
Will be bringing in 4 (2 for main tv). Would have made things that bit easier.

    Ah well..

Each tuner always needs a separate feed for normal LNB/Diseqc/Multiswitch.

    Hi T90 lovers!
I do not why but from home I cannot open boards.ie, although it works perfectly from Germany where I am now.
Thanks for this tread, I like it. From time I last posted there are some changes in my T90 setup. Firstly new platform for antennas, and secondly have got new LNB holders, thirdly – made new mega-diseqc for all future connections. Just one small problem…. do not have time to do some more work.
    13d731002d9dt.jpg4c7418380943t.jpg0cb651003fdft.jpg
In addition, forgot to tell ya, that I have made some kind of strategic-Sat-picture for my future connections. I wish to get signals from max 32 satellites; those are receivable in my area. Because I have 8 quad LNBs (marked yellow in “Poz” column), I will try to catch independent receiving of channels from satellite simultaneously on separate tuners of DreamBox 8000. In case if, by any chance, I get second T90 in my hands, I will try to cover all Clarke belt by only 2 antennas.

Looks great Rimants, thank you once again for those LNB holders they really work a treat. The T-90 is a great antenna especially if you suffer the one dish per household rule which I don't:):):).

Due to changes in the house layout I've moved my T-90, pics to follow.

That is strange, boards.ie doesn't work for me while I am in my country, only from abroad, strange. I do not plan any trips soon, so maybe will lost for some months. I more or less finished with T90 this year (have another priorities for summer). Changed all the nuts and bolts to INOX ones, rewired everything according to general plan. T90 is really great antenna, cuz it keeps you busy.

Wow, you'd need the patience of a Saint to do all that!

Looking very well tidied though. I like that DiSEqC array you have.

    Hi forumers!
If I am writing this means I am not at home today, site still do not work from my location. This is not connected to the tread directly, but, I went for some metal workshop another day and found out that there is 150cm prime-focus antenna situated on the ground. I could not resist and bargained it for about 9EUR price. I do not know yet, but maybe that will be installed somewhere next my T90 and it’s LNB will be connected to Diseqc array I already have.
