Deans connectors

I never liked those Tamiya connectors and last few guns I bought
had loose connections or the wires kept coming etc so I've ordered a few pairs of Deans connectors. (I've not begun to explore all the fancy wire stuff yet, but have seen arguments over teflon coated vs silicon coated and different gauges etc on other sites) I hear deans connectors are all the rage ;)

Is there any kind of "standard" that people tend to use when replacing Tamiya
connectors? ie is the male typically on the gun with the female on the battery?

Male on the AEG, female on the battery

The standard pattern for wiring them is positive connected to the horizontal bar of the TEE and the negative is connected to the vertical bar

There are a few good how-to videos on youtube on the matter bullets. I'll post them when I get home.

As for wiring gauge; as I understand it 16awg is supposedly pretty decent, but you'll maybe only see a few mah increase with changing the wiring itself (unless it's truly shoddy quality stuff). Then again, a few mah here, and a few there, etc. all adds up to an extra magazine at the end of the day ...

Dunno about teflon vs. silicon coatings or the like; I haven't dived that far into the wiring aspect yet.

Now that some of me guns are starting to act up I reckoned it
was time to start learning how to tinker with them.
(since I've 3 AEG's not working correctly and one Pistol that needs fixin)
was watching some soldering vid's last night which were interesting.
so have the connectors, wire strippers, multimeter, solder on the way, bought
a soldering iron, Tap and Die, vernier calipers a week or two ago, and bought myself an actual Dremel to replace that pathetic excuse I had for a battery powered clone of one. All I need now is Knowledge/skill and Practice.

Probably a bit late now if you've got stuff already on order, but component-shop.co.uk carry wiring and connector types for good prices. Discount for varying volumes bought too.

Yep thats the place I bought some of the stuff, the've nice prices, did not buy any wire yet but will next order. For now I'll start with replacing connectors. If I get Brave I'll open a gearbox for a peek (last one I opened on a JLS scar never worked right after I messed with it)

Speaking of videos; here is one on wiring a deans connector to a mosfet, but the from what I recall (not watched it in a while), the guy explains what he's at pretty well.

Although it's for a mosfet, principle of application is the same
