    Hi,

I now have my TV set up. Its the Samsung UE46C6000 and all seems to be working good,

But what do I need to do now to get Saorview channels etc.

    AND

Also when I tuned it in the channels are all over the place - how do get them into the correct order (i.e RTE 1 on channel 1; Network 2 on channel 2 and so on.)

    Thanks,

    Damien

I assume the channels you've installed are the analogue ones, do you know the frequencies to identify the transmitter? There will be an option within the menu to rearrange the channels in the correct order, you'll have to read the manual.

To get the Saorview channels, if available from your local transmitter, can be done on initial setup to search for both analogue and digital channels and there will be an option within the menu to search for and install the digital channels later also.

On my brother's Samsung he did an analogue/digital scan on setup which installed the DTT channels from position 1 upwards and the analogue ones in the 900's I think.

I'm not sure at this stage why you would bother to have the analogue Channels on a Compatible TV that's getting Digital now?

Because until the service launches in May the current trial service is still subject to interruption.
The trial service will operate for varying durations and will be subject to some variations and interruptions. Permanent transmissions will not commence until the full SAORVIEW service is formally launched in spring 2011.

Damien, I Bought a Samsung yesterday, different model but the can't be that different with regards menus.

To get DTV/Saorview, hit 'Menu', click on the Antenna logo menu options and select 'Auto Tune'.

It will give you the option to scan Analogue, Digital or both. Just select Digital and it scans, you should see 7 TV stations and 10 Radio Stations. I got RTE1, RTE2HD, TV3, TG4, 3E, RTE News Now & RTE2 SD. Radion stations were just the RTE one's and some of the DAB stations too like RTE Pulse FM, XFM etc.

Once set up, you stay in the same menu as the Antenna Setup and to arrange the channel orders, select 'Channel Manager' and 'Edit Channel Numbers' by highlighting the channel you want and pressing the 'Tools' button on the remote.

The channels did arrange themselves automatically for me so you probally won't have to bother. I just wanted to move RTE News Now to the end of the list and swap around TG4 and 3e.

Oh, and make sure you have the correct Antenna, I'm no expert, but you'd need a UHF antenna. I am open to correction.

Once set up, just hit the TV Guide on your remote to see the Guide and set program reminders, or press the Info button see a smaller on screen Guide at the top of your screen using the Up, Down, Left, Right button to navagate though the different channels and times.

    Smoke and Mirrors.

DTT has in the main been stable for over 2.5 years now. Whatever about the politics of RTE's carefully chosen words, DSO is on now at the main TX's and gradually being rolled out to the fill in's between now and June. At which stage Saorsat will be hopefully also be on. ASO is the end of next year and that's very near in the scheme of things.

This choice of words by RTE NL will do only one thing, cause confusion. UK retailer chains dont need excuses to sell incompatible products. Lets not help them.
