Can anyone tell me whats the story with being left handed/eye dominant in the army ?

I have excellent vision in my left eye but significantly poorer quality of vision in my right eye...think its called a lazy eye.

Think my options are fairly limited...getting my eyes tested wednesday to see if i meet the requirements for the PDF but since they dont use left handed guns I think im fairly screwed.

I can't advise you regarding the eyesight, but I'm a lefty myself and you get trained to handle it as a righty like everybody else. If you try and fire the steyr from your left shoulder you will get a cheekful of hot brass :)
Even now trying to bring an imaginary rifle up in a lefty position I'm getting confused trying to figure out where my hands would go or which hand to cock it with or change mags with.

If someone has never fired before then with proper instruction and training it will just become second nature for them to fire from the right.

Everything is done the same way in a smart, uniform and soldierlike manner. :p

I think he means he won't be able to aim as his right eye is weak.
I have a lazy eye but it's my left thank god. My optician tells me that if anything were to happen to my good eye that my other eye would step up a gear and would soon be just as good as my right eye is so maybe you could try reading/computer etc with your bad eye to give it a bit of practice?

Thats exactly it...my aim will be pretty bad. Ya I might start patching it up and give the other eye a chance.

It just about sums up my luck!!!:(

O well ill just hope for the best and keep the fingers crossed.
