World War 1 Tours in France?

In May there is a group of 4 adults heading to France to visit the World War 1 Memorials, as some of our relatives died over there. We are wondering if anyone has been there and if so if they could give us any advice? We will be flying into Brussels and staying in Lille. We are looking for a tour guide (either a group tour / individual tour) to bring us to Pozieres Memorial (near Albert), Le Touret Memorial and the Site of the battle of Las Bassee, as a day tour only. Any advice would be welcomed :)

You might get some advice on the WW1 forum.

It is a sub forum of military.

Good luck, I haven't been to the places you mention, but I have been to Arras and Vimy and I would recommend a visit there.

You might also want to get in touch with the commonwealth wargraves commission, they give a lot of advice on where to go.

Here's a link from the CWGC site on battlefield tour companies http://www.cwgc.org./faqs_answer.asp?faqid=38&menuid=14&submenuid=18&menu=sub
I've been over a couple of times although never used a guide, regretfully.

Get a copy of 'Major&Mrs Holts Battlefield Guide to the Somme' and also the same authors guide to Ypres Salient, hire a car and youll be fine.
If your looking for a guide the tourist offices locally should have info but youll do quite well if you get Major Holts books.
    Enjoy your trip

You are covering a lot of distance there! Lille is quite a trek from Albert(and Pozieres). About 2 hours busy motorway drive at least. Brussels is a good hours drive from Lille also.
There are a number of tour groups specialising in battlefield tours in the area. Leger being the most popular for British Forces.

Let me know who you are going to see and I will put up whatever I have on them.
The South Tipperary Historical Society organises battlefield tours.
    Cheers.

Did this tour this morning with Rick. He was a fantastic guide and teach Ed. His instructions for the Segway were very clear and as a result I felt very safe whilst using it. It was great fun to ride, although would recommend rugging u p as much as possible as the breeze was very cool. Rick gave a great commentary on the sights we stopped at and also some good tips on things to do and places to eat at whilst in Paris. Overall the company was very friendly and knowledgable and a fantastic first experience in Paris. We highly suggest www.privatetoursinistanbul.com
